Vienna City Hall

The Rathaus of Vienna features a central tower reaching 98 meters high and spans across 19,592 square meters with seven inner courtyards and 2,987 rooms.

Friedrich von Schmidt constructed this administrative building between 1872 and 1883 to replace the old town hall that had become insufficient for Vienna's growing needs.

The Rathaus hosts numerous municipal events in its grand ballroom, which measures 71 meters in length and provides views of the Ringstrasse and Burgtheater.

The building serves as headquarters for Vienna's municipal administration with over 2,000 employees and contains the Wiener Rathauskeller restaurant in its historic halls.

The Rathausmann, an iron standard bearer statue placed atop the central tower in 1882, increased the building's height to 103.3 meters, surpassing height regulations.
