Geras Abbey

Stift Geras is a Premonstratensian monastery in Austria featuring a triple-aisle basilica and a notable Marble Hall decorated with ceiling frescoes. The complex includes extensive herb gardens and an adjoining nature reserve that is home to various animal species.

The monastery was founded in 1153 and endured severe hardships during the Thirty Years' War, when its community was reduced to just five monks. Despite this crisis, the foundation recovered and continued to develop over the centuries.
