Burgruine Gmünd

Burgruine Gmünd is a castle ruin perched on a hilltop above the town, overlooking the surrounding valleys from a commanding position. Sturdy stone walls still define the main structure and the defensive layout of this former stronghold.

The castle was founded around 1252 as a control point for trade routes crossing through Carinthian lands. It became part of a defensive system protecting local rulers from threats during medieval times.
