The water reservoir consists of four chambers, each measuring 134.4 meters in length, 120.4 meters in width, and 10 meters in height.

The construction of this water storage system began on August 23, 1953, with the foundation stone laid in November, and operations commenced on April 25, 1959.

The water reservoir represents Austrian engineering excellence and demonstrates the commitment to providing sustainable water infrastructure for the capital city of Vienna.

The facility delivers between 100,000 and 200,000 cubic meters of water daily to Vienna, with water taking approximately ten hours to reach its destination.

Each chamber of the reservoir could accommodate two St. Stephen's Cathedrals, making the total capacity equivalent to the space of eight cathedrals.
