Schloss Moosburg

Schloss Moosburg is a late Gothic fortress sitting on a hill, featuring two four-story main buildings with steep gabled roofs. An eastern arcade connects these buildings to a lower southern wing, creating an intricate layout.

The fortress emerged in the 9th century, making it one of Austria's oldest continuously inhabited buildings. The Goëss family took ownership in 1708 and kept it in the family for generations afterward.

The Goëss family shaped this place over centuries, and their influence remains visible in the rooms and decoration. The ornate stucco work and historical furnishings show how people of rank lived here.

The site now operates as a hotel with guest rooms and a restaurant inside the late Gothic hall, reopened after renovations in the 1990s. Visitors should know it sits on a hillside and interior spaces follow the original historical layout.

The old tower building within the grounds now houses an Ayurvedic treatment center where guests can receive traditional wellness therapies. Additionally, during colder months the property offers heated mattresses, blending contemporary comfort with medieval surroundings.
