Burg Neuhaus, Medieval castle in Sankt Martin im Mühlkreis, Austria.
Neuhaus Castle stretches over 300 meters along a hilltop at 434 meters elevation, overlooking the confluence of the Große Mühl and Danube rivers.
The castle originated in the 13th century as a falconry base for Passau bishops, later expanded by the Schaunberg family into a fortified stronghold during the 14th century.
The castle structure reflects different architectural periods, from its initial solid house to the 16th-century bailey addition and the prominent clock tower.
The castle remains privately owned by the Plappart family since 1920 and permits exterior viewing without interior access for preservation purposes.
A strategic lookout tower beneath the castle provided an 8-kilometer view along the Danube, from Aschach to the Donauschleife near Exlau.
