Schloss Rabensburg

Schloss Rabensburg is a stone castle in the village bearing its name, featuring two prominent towers and interior elements spanning multiple architectural periods. The inner courtyard displays Renaissance arches across three levels, while one tower contains a late Gothic spiral staircase.

The site began as a wooden defensive structure in the mid-11th century and was reconstructed in stone roughly a century later. Major alterations in the 16th century significantly transformed its appearance and function.

The castle once served as an administrative hub that influenced life across the surrounding region for centuries. Today this central role remains visible in how the structure and settlement are organized around the fortification.

In the 19th century the castle was converted into a parquet flooring factory, which caused the loss of numerous frescoes and architectural details. This unexpected industrial use left lasting marks on the building's original fabric.
