Fence, Umzäunung von Parkanlagen in Wien
Welcome to the Burg and Volksgarten in Vienna's 1st district, Inner City. The park enclosure is located on Burgring and is a protected monument as part of the Burg and Volksgarten, as well as a defensive structure for the Hofburg. It is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Historic Centre of Vienna. During the construction of the Neue Burg, several cast iron works were commissioned, including the long and high fence that encloses and protects the entire area. The fence starts at the Palmenhaus in the Burggarten and encompasses the Burggarten towards Goethegasse, then along Burgring past the Corps de Logis, up to the Outer Castle Gate, and then along the Ringstrasse around the Volksgarten until the Burgtheater. There, it runs along Löwelstraße towards the east where it separates and closes off the Volksgarten from Heldenplatz. The garden areas on both sides of the newly constructed castle gate were built on the bastions that were destroyed by the French in 1809. The Burggarten was established as a private garden for the Emperor from 1816 to 1819, while the Volksgarten was created from 1819 to 1823 northwest of the castle gate. The Volksgarten was the first public park in Vienna. During the construction of the Vienna Ringstrasse, the Volksgarten was significantly expanded in 1883. Both parks were provided with a new enclosure in 1864 according to plans by Moritz von Loehr. The fence was cast by the Fürst Salmschen Eisengießerei in Blansko. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the beautiful gardens and take in the historical significance of the park enclosure. The Burg and Volksgarten are perfect for picnics, relaxing walks, and sightseeing. Don't forget to bring your camera to capture the stunning views of the park and the surrounding area. We hope you enjoy your visit to the Burg and Volksgarten in Vienna's Inner City!
