Madereck, Mountain summit in Bruck an der Mur, Austria
Madereck is a mountain summit in the Northern Styrian Alps rising to 1,053 meters above sea level. The peak sits in a landscape where hiking paths wind through woodlands and open slopes with views across the region.
The summit has long been one of the prominent peaks visible from the town of Bruck an der Mur below. It served as a natural landmark that shaped how people navigated and understood the local terrain.
Local hiking clubs regularly organize guided tours through Sektion Graz-St. G.V., fostering a strong mountaineering community in the Styrian region.
The trail to the summit is clearly marked and takes roughly three and a half hours for most walkers to complete. You will move through forest and meadow terrain that requires standard hiking gear and a reasonable level of fitness.
Just below the peak sits the Almgasthaus Puster, a simple mountain hut where hikers can rest and have refreshments. The final stretch to the cross at the top passes through open meadows rather than forest.
