Stadtturm Enns

Stadtturm Enns is a bell tower in the town of Enns that rises approximately 60 meters and features a square structure divided into four levels. The summit includes a viewing gallery that offers views across the town.

Construction began in 1564 under Emperor Maximilian II. Stones from the demolished Scheiblingkirche were reused in the tower's construction, particularly for the viewing platform.

The tower displays Gothic and Renaissance features that reflect 16th-century craftsmanship. Visitors can observe original stonework and construction details that reveal building methods of that era.

Reaching the observation deck requires climbing approximately 157 steps. The route is regularly open to visitors, and comfortable shoes are recommended since the staircase is steep and narrow in places.

Inside, there is an unoccupied watchman's room that once faced plans for conversion into a hotel room, but retained its original features. This space reveals how functional spaces within older towers were once designed.
