WestLicht Center for Photography, Photography museum in Vienna, Austria

The WestLicht Center features exhibition spaces across multiple floors, displaying both historical cameras and contemporary photographic artworks through rotating exhibitions.

Established in 2001, the center maintains a collection of over 350 cameras, including the 1839 Susse Frères daguerreotype, the first commercial camera ever produced.

The museum hosts the World Press Photo Exhibition annually in autumn, presenting powerful photojournalism images that document significant global events.

Located near Burggasse-Stadthalle station, the museum opens Tuesday through Sunday, with extended hours on Thursdays until 21:00 and admission at €12 for adults.

The collection includes a Thornton-Pickard Mk III Hythe machine gun camera from World War I, used to train aircraft gunners in aerial combat.
