Castle of Wannegem, Classical castle in Kruisem, Belgium
The Castle of Wannegem exhibits pure Louis XVI architectural style with classical stucco decorations and half-reliefs created by the Moretti brothers.
Designed by Barnabé Guimard between 1785 and 1786, the castle was commissioned by Alphonse Baut de Rasmon from a wealthy Ghent industrial family.
The castle earned the name 'Petit Trianon' of Flanders due to its architectural similarities with structures in the park of Versailles.
The castle sits on private property along Huisepontweg and remains closed to public visits, though its exterior can be viewed from nearby roads.
The surrounding park, created by German horticulturist Hirschfeld, features a pond with an island, classical garden pavilion, and exotic tree collections.
