Province of Lleida

The territory extends from the Pyrenees mountains in the north to the fertile Ebro River plains in the south, covering 12,150 square kilometers.

The province was officially established in 1833 as part of Spain's territorial reorganization, becoming one of the four administrative divisions of Catalonia.

The Vall de Boi contains multiple Romanesque churches recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites, representing medieval architectural achievements in the Pyrenees.

The province maintains 231 municipalities connected by an extensive road network, with the city of Lleida functioning as the administrative center.

The Aran Valley in the northern section operates with special autonomy and uses Aranese, a variety of Occitan, as its official language.
