Alcázar of Segovia

The fortress rises on a limestone cliff between the Eresma and Clamores rivers, with thick stone walls and multiple towers surrounding its perimeter.

The initial structure dates from the 12th century, serving as a fortress for Alfonso VIII before becoming the residence of the Castilian monarchs until the 16th century.

The Hall of Kings contains 52 detailed statues depicting Spanish rulers from Asturias, Leon, and Castile, arranged in chronological order along its walls.

Visitors can access the castle through guided tours, which include exploration of the artillery museum, royal chambers, and tower with panoramic views.

The castle maintains a collection of secret passageways connecting to the river and various palaces throughout Segovia, constructed for royal security purposes.
