La Seu d'Urgell

Located at the confluence of Segre and Valira rivers, La Seu d'Urgell stands at 691 meters elevation surrounded by the Cadí mountain range.

The settlement originated from the Latin 'Sedes Urgelli', marking its status as an episcopal see, with construction of its cathedral beginning in 1116.

The Sant Ermengol Fair, occurring every October, represents one of the oldest traditional markets in Catalonia, featuring local cheese producers and artisans.

The Segre Olympic Park, constructed for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, functions as a pump-driven canoe and kayak sports facility near the town center.

The Bishop of Urgell, whose seat remains in the cathedral, holds the constitutional role of Co-Prince of Andorra alongside the President of France.
