The initial construction began in 1001 as a Romanesque building, while the Gothic nave, measuring 23 meters wide, reached completion during the early fifteenth century.
The Cathedral Treasury houses the Tapestry of Creation, an eleventh-century Romanesque textile piece displaying scenes from Genesis and the natural world calendar.
The cathedral welcomes visitors Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 17:30, Saturdays from 10:00 to 18:30, and Sundays from 12:00 to 17:30 with entrance fees starting at 7.50 euros.
The central nave stands as the widest Gothic vault in the world at 22.98 meters, supported by massive stone buttresses that distribute the weight of the ceiling.
