Archaeology Museum of Catalonia, Archaeological museum in Sant Pere de Galligants, Girona, Spain
The museum displays archaeological discoveries from the Girona region within a former Benedictine monastery featuring Romanesque architecture and a medieval cloister.
Founded in 1846 as the Provincial Museum of Antiquities and Fine Arts, it moved to its current location in 1857 at the Sant Pere de Galligants abbey.
The collection presents artifacts from prehistory through the Middle Ages, including significant objects from excavations at Empúries and surrounding archaeological sites.
The museum opens Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 19:00 during summer months and offers free admission on the first Sunday of each month.
The exhibition space occupies three distinct areas: the Romanesque church, the medieval cloister, and a nineteenth-century addition above the cloister.
