Mercat Central, Market hall in El Mercat, Valencia, Spain
The Central Market spans 8,000 square meters with iron columns, colored glass panels, and decorative domes that illuminate the interior space naturally.
Construction of the market building started in 1914 under architects Francesc Guàrdia and Alexandre Soler, with final completion and inauguration in November 1928.
The market exhibits Valencian Art Nouveau style with Gothic and Baroque influences, incorporating regional motifs through ceramic tiles and stained glass windows.
The market opens Monday through Saturday from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, offering fresh produce, meats, fish, and local specialties across 1,200 stalls.
The building features multiple domes of different heights, constructed with iron framework similar to that used in the Eiffel Tower.
