El Burguillo Reservoir

El Burguillo Reservoir stretches across 910 hectares along the Alberche River, nestled between the municipalities of El Tiemblo and El Barraco at 729 meters elevation.

The construction of the reservoir was completed in 1913, marking it as the first water infrastructure project on the Alberche River with a gravity dam rising 91 meters.

The reservoir area maintains traditional Spanish rural life through local markets, regional gastronomy, and seasonal festivals that connect visitors with authentic Castilian customs.

The reservoir offers facilities for multiple water activities including kayaking, sailing, and swimming, with several access points and equipment rental services available throughout the year.

The reservoir generates 48 megawatts of hydroelectric power while supporting local agriculture through an extensive irrigation network across the surrounding farmlands.
