Institut Pere Mata

The Institut Pere Mata consists of eleven pavilions separated by gardens, featuring a combination of brick, stone, ceramics, and mosaic decorations.

Construction of this psychiatric facility began in 1897 and continued until 1912, under the direction of architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner.

The sixth pavilion, named Pavilion of the Distinguished, displays the finest architectural elements and maintains its original early 20th-century furniture.

Visitors can explore the historic pavilion with audio guides in multiple languages, with different schedules depending on summer or winter seasons.

The facility remains an active psychiatric hospital while simultaneously allowing public access to specific sections designated as national cultural assets.
