Ehrensvärd's grave

The granite memorial features bronze ornaments at both ends shaped like ship bows, along with military symbols including a shield, sword, and helmet on its surface.

Following his death in 1772, King Gustaf III ordered Ehrensvärd's burial in Sveaborg fortress, with the memorial completed in 1805 using bronze from Russian cannons.

The memorial bears inscriptions in 18th-century Swedish acknowledging Ehrensvärd's role as field marshal and commander of the fortress of Sveaborg.

The memorial site stands in the Great Courtyard of Suomenlinna, approximately one kilometer from the main quay, with seasonal waterbus service to Artillery Bay.

The bronze decorations adorning the memorial were crafted from melted Russian cannons captured during the 1790 battle of Svensksund.
