The 4th arrondissement of Paris is one of the central districts of the city, located on the right bank of the River Seine.
It was created from the old districts of Paris by Napoleon III and Baron Haussmann in 1860.
This district houses iconic landmarks including Notre-Dame Cathedral and the medieval neighborhood Le Marais.
Known as Arrondissement de l'Hôtel-de-Ville, it is administratively divided for urban planning.
It consists of historical islands such as Île Saint-Louis and Île de la Cité.
