Château de la Motte-Jean, 17th-century castle in Saint-Coulomb, France.
Motte-Jean Castle features Louis XIII architecture with a Renaissance staircase and granite monumental fireplaces in its kitchen section.
Built in 1625 on medieval fortress foundations, the castle belonged to the du Guesclin family before passing to the Surcouf family in 1756.
The estate includes a Trinity chapel from 1707 and a square dovecote with 600 nesting holes on the feudal mound.
Visitors can explore the park with its 2-kilometer walking paths, cascading ponds, and gardens, while the inner courtyard remains private.
The castle served as a military hospital during the French Revolution and became a gathering point for royalist agents.
