Notre-Dame de l'Épine

The Notre-Dame de l'Épine basilica features three portals on its facade and two prominent towers, with the right tower reaching 55 meters in height.

Construction of the Notre-Dame de l'Épine began between 1405 and 1406, reaching completion in 1527, and received classification as a French historical monument in 1840.

The basilica represents a significant point along the Way of Saint James pilgrimage route, leading to its recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1998.

The basilica maintains regular religious services and opens its doors to visitors who can observe its 15th-century high choir and medieval architectural elements.

The left tower of Notre-Dame de l'Épine underwent complete dismantling in 1798 and received full reconstruction in 1868, marking a notable architectural transformation.
