Château de Bressieux, Medieval castle ruins in Bressieux, France

The castle structure features a cylindrical keep measuring 23 meters high with distinctive pink brick walls and multiple defensive towers surrounding the perimeter.

Built around 1250 by Aymard VI, the fortress replaced an earlier stone structure from 1025 and served as the seat of the Bressieux barony.

The medieval castle has attracted numerous artists, including painter Jongkind who created a watercolor in 1879 now displayed at the Louvre Museum.

The castle remains open year-round with free access to the grounds, while guided tours are available through the Friends of Bressieux association.

The architecture of the castle combines pebbles from its original construction with later additions in pink brick, creating a colorful pattern. The castle was used as a setting in the film Kaamelott: Premier Volet by Alexandre Astier.
