Château d'Échéry, Medieval castle ruins in Sainte-Croix-aux-Mines, France.

The limestone walls and heavy buttresses of Château d'Échéry stand on a rocky outcrop northwest of the town, featuring remnants of its original structure.

Built in 1250 by the Duke of Lorraine, the castle experienced two sieges and was divided between the Ribeaupierre and Hattstadt families after the Echery lineage ended.

The castle's architecture includes a chapel constructed in 1460 outside the main walls, representing the religious practices of medieval nobility in Alsace.

The site, managed by the Association pour la Conservation du Château de Haut-Echery since 1993, maintains the ruins for public interest.

A wall divided the castle into two sections to separate the Ribeaupierre and Hattstadt families who frequently disputed over the property.
