The church replaced an older parish structure from 1449 and received its consecration in 1866, followed by elevation to basilica status in 1898.
The basilica preserves the Holy Tunic, a garment traditionally associated with Christ's Passion, displayed during special ceremonies every fifty years.
Located near Argenteuil's historical center, the basilica contains two separate organs and features restored stained glass windows from the 1950s.
The building displays 'Freedom - Equality - Brotherhood' on its pediment, reflecting its construction period before the 1905 separation of church and state.
