Schloss Freiberg

Schloss Freiberg is a Renaissance castle in Ludersdorf-Wilfersdorf situated on elevated ground with solid stone walls and decorative stone carvings throughout its grounds. The structure continues to serve visitors through a restaurant on the ground floor and a bookbinding workshop that keep it functioning as an active destination year-round.

The castle originated in the 12th century under the Freynberger family and received its first written documentation in 1472. Renaissance renovations were undertaken in the 17th century, followed by territorial expansions that incorporated neighboring properties.

The castle served as a gathering place for Austrian artists during the final decades of the 20th century, with regular exhibitions and creative projects taking place within its rooms. This artistic chapter shaped how the location is perceived and used by visitors today.
