Schloss Albeck

Schloss Albeck is a medieval fortress positioned on elevated ground near the village, featuring two distinctive towers and preserved sections of the original defensive moat. The building houses restaurant facilities, event spaces, and underwent major reconstruction in the early 1700s.

The castle originates from the medieval period and experienced multiple rebuilding phases, including a comprehensive renovation around 1712 led by architect Heinrich Hacker. This modernization shaped the structure's appearance that survives today.

The castle hosts regional art events throughout the year, bringing together theater performances, exhibitions, and concerts. Visitors can experience local creative work displayed within historic walls.

The castle includes a restaurant serving regional cuisine and spacious function halls suitable for groups and celebrations. The venue is accessible by car and can be easily explored on foot throughout the grounds.

The surrounding grounds contain Austria's largest outdoor wooden sculpture park displaying approximately 100 pieces crafted from local larch wood. This collection represents an unexpected artistic addition that contrasts with the historical building's medieval origins.
