Lasörling, Alpine summit in East Tyrol, Austria
Lasörling is an Alpine peak in East Tyrol with two summits, the main one reaching 3,098 meters and the southeast top sitting slightly lower. The mountain features rocky terrain and moraine fields that define its structure and allow various climbing approaches.
The first documented ascent took place in 1854 when surveyor H. von Acken and his team reached the summit via the southern route. Since then the mountain has served as a key location for Alpine exploration and surveying work in the region.
The mountain's name originates from old Germanic roots, with 'Las' derived from Old Slovenian meaning clearance and 'Arl' referring to a ploughshare.
The standard route starts from the Lasörling Hut around 2,350 meters elevation and follows marked paths through moraine fields to reach Lasörlingscharte saddle. Visitors should plan for altitude adjustment and take extra care during poor weather or snow conditions.
From the summit position climbers enjoy an exceptional view across numerous other three-thousand-meter peaks, including clear sightlines to Großvenediger and Großglockner. This panoramic perspective makes the location a favored spot for mountain photographers and mountaineers wanting to capture the entire massif.
