Schloss Matzen, Medieval castle in Matzen-Raggendorf, Austria.
The castle complex includes a north and south wing connected by a corridor, with a round Romanesque tower positioned on the eastern side.
The first documented mention of Schloss Matzen dates to 1167, when it was under the ownership of the Knights of Freundsberg until 1468.
The Gothic chapel in the northern wing, first documented in 1470, contains late medieval paintings and architectural elements from the period.
The castle grounds include 200,000 square meters of parkland with a pond, and visitors can access the park throughout the day.
During World War II, the castle served as a storage facility for the collections of the Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum and regional library materials.
