Klosterneuburger Hütte, Mountain hut in Rottenmanner and Wölzer Tauern range, Austria.
The Klosterneuburger Hütte is a mountain hut situated in the Rottenmanner and Wölzer Tauern range at 1902 meters elevation. It occupies a location between the Tauernwindpark and Lachtal ski area, positioned below Schönberg peak.
The Austrian Alpine Club built the hut during 1929-1930 as a training center for ski instructors. It later became a shelter for hikers and mountaineers of all kinds.
The hut represents traditional Alpine hospitality with its communal sleeping arrangements, featuring 11 beds and 15 shared spaces for mountaineers.
You can reach the hut via several trails, such as a one-hour climb from Lachtal or a longer trek starting from Oberzeiring. It helps to check available routes and opening times before you go.
The shelter follows a two-season schedule: it opens from mid-May through October for summer hikers. It closes and reopens from mid-December until Easter Tuesday, serving winter visitors during the colder months.
