Altes Schloss

The stone fortress stands on a rock formation above Herrensee lake, featuring a round tower and multiple architectural additions throughout its existence.

First documented in 1260 under the Kuenring family control, the castle changed ownership until 1763 when Count Christian August of Seilern acquired the property.

The castle grounds maintain traditional forest management practices while serving as the current residence of the Seilern-Aspang family, continuing centuries of noble heritage.

As the castle operates as a private residence and forest management center, visitors cannot access the buildings but can view the structure from designated areas.

The round keep contains untold stories from the Thirty Years War period, making it a subject of regional historical documentation and research.
