Burgruine Neudegg, Theras

Burgruine Neudegg is a castle ruin located on a forested hillside in the western Pulkau Valley. The remaining stone walls still show windows and other architectural details from its original construction.

The first documented mention of the site dates to 1183 in written records. The castle emerged during the period when medieval fortifications spread throughout the region.

The ruin is named after a medieval fortified structure that once controlled this part of the valley. Today it remains visible to hikers as a reminder of how such buildings shaped the landscape and daily life of the region.

The site sits on a forested hillside and is best reached on foot. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear and be ready for steeper terrain as they approach the ruins.

The site was known under several different names in medieval documents and was eventually described simply as an empty house. This shift in how it was named reveals how places gradually faded from people's memory.
