Schloss Wildenau

Schloss Wildenau is a protected castle in Aspach, Austria, featuring remaining structures including a chapel and a vaulted ceremonial hall in its eastern section. The complex contains various interconnected spaces, some of which retain their historical character and architectural details.

The castle was first documented in 1383 and experienced multiple fires and conflicts throughout its history. It suffered significant damage during the War of Spanish Succession in 1703 when it was plundered.

The chapel here serves the local community as a place of worship, having been moved to ground level in the 19th century to make it more accessible.

The location works well for special events, with the vaulted hall and garden areas available for use. Visitors should note that the chapel is directly accessible and the grounds are well organized, making it easy to navigate.

The original grounds were surrounded by water and could only be reached by a movable bridge that served a defensive purpose. The castle once had three towers that dominated the property and shaped its overall structure.
