Burgruine Weyer

The Weyerturm stands 16 meters tall with dimensions of 14 by 10 meters, featuring a rounded archway entrance and remnants of a Romanesque chapel.

The tower, first mentioned in 1130 with Rapoto de Wiare, served as a defensive structure guarding the entrance to Habachtal, where Europe's only emerald deposit existed.

The structure belonged to the Bishopric of Chiemsee from 1270 and required tenants to maintain accommodation for visiting bishops throughout its active period.

The ruins include remaining foundation walls of a square building that connected to the main tower structure, built on layered masonry construction.

In 1940, before its destruction, the adjacent Weyerhof building temporarily stored artworks from Vienna's Museum of Art History during wartime protection efforts.
