Senderbrücke, Heritage-protected wooden bridge between Dornbirn and Lauterach, Austria.
The Senderbrücke is a heritage-protected wooden bridge that connects Dornbirn and Lauterach across the Dornbirner Ach river. It measures approximately 75 meters long and 6.5 meters wide with a clearance height of about 2.4 meters.
The structure was built between 1915 and 1916, replacing an earlier wooden footbridge from 1873. It was constructed to support agricultural transport in the Vorarlberg region.
The bridge takes its name from the ORF radio transmitter built nearby in 1933. This connection links the structure to the region's broadcasting history.
Since September 2021, the bridge is restricted to pedestrians and cyclists due to structural wear. A new crossing was built adjacent to it to accommodate traffic needs.
The structure sits within the European protected area of Soren, Gleggen-Köblern, Schweizer Ried and Birken-Schwarzes Zeug. This location underscores the ecological importance of the surroundings.
