Polish military cemetery in Lommel

The Lommel Polish War Cemetery contains 255 white crosses and two Star of David headstones marking the graves of Polish soldiers from World War II.

The cemetery was established in 1946 through British government efforts to honor Polish soldiers who died during the liberation of Belgium in World War II.

A marble sculpture by Marian Wnuk depicts a woman holding a laurel wreath, commemorating the sacrifices of Polish military members during the liberation campaign.

Located at Luikersteenweg 3 in Lommel, the cemetery features inscriptions in Polish, French, and Flemish, with a six-meter cross on the wall of memory.

The names of Belgian towns where Polish forces fought are inscribed on the central wall, except for Tielt, which kept its fallen soldiers as part of local history.
