Groß Karben station, Railway station with heritage status in Karben, Germany
The station building features a two-story design with a pitched roof and a projecting porch at the 178.4 km mark of Main-Weser Railway.
The station opened on May 10, 1850, as part of the railway section connecting Frankfurt to Friedberg, preceding the complete Main-Weser Railway construction in 1852.
The station building represents the last remaining original structure from the initial Main-Weser Railway formation, protected under the Hessian Heritage Act.
Three platform tracks across two platforms serve the S6 line of Rhine-Main S-Bahn, with trains running every 15 minutes on weekdays and 30 minutes on weekends.
The railway station experienced a notable incident on January 28, 1907, resulting in one fatality and two serious injuries near its premises.
