Radebeul Observatory

The observatory sits at an elevation of 172 meters between Niederlößnitz and Naundorf districts, featuring multiple telescopes for celestial observation.

The facility began in 1955 when astronomy enthusiasts gathered at an adult education center, leading to its official inauguration in May 1959.

The observatory maintains an active schedule of public stargazing sessions, educational lectures, and special events through its 90-member Astroclub Radebeul organization.

Visitors can attend regular Friday evening observations and reserve tickets for planetarium shows, with special programs designed for families and schools.

Between 2005 and 2011, observatory member Martin Fiedler discovered eleven minor planets, with five receiving official names including Radebeul.
