Schloss Wickrath, Moated castle in Mönchengladbach, Germany
The castle complex stands on the banks of river Niers, featuring baroque west and east wings connected by a central courtyard and surrounded by water.
Count Wilhelm Otto Friedrich von Quadt directed the construction of the current structure between 1746 and 1772, replacing the former Chateau de Wyckradt.
The surrounding park adopts the shape of a coronet, representing the noble status of counts within the Holy Roman Empire hierarchy.
The castle grounds maintain regular visiting hours and host exhibitions throughout the year, with guided tours available through the heritage monument's main sections.
The Landstallmeisterhaus, a specialized building within the complex, served as the residence for the master responsible for the castle's horse breeding program.
