Blåtårn, Prison tower in central Copenhagen, Denmark
The Blue Tower stood as a fortified structure within the royal palace complex, reaching approximately 36 meters in height with thick stone walls.
Built during the 15th century and operational until 1731, the tower served as a state prison for numerous political prisoners under Danish monarchy control.
Leonora Christina Ulfeldt wrote her autobiography 'Jammers Minde' during her 22-year imprisonment in the tower from 1663 to 1685.
The tower remained in use as a detention facility for nobles and political figures until its complete demolition between 1731 and 1732.
Among its notable prisoners were the grandmother, mother, and sisters of Swedish King Gustav I Wasa, who were detained in 1520.
