The organization was founded in 1970 by Mogens Amdi Petersen and committed itself to alternative teaching methods and social development. Since then, it has established more than 30 schools throughout Denmark and significantly shaped the country's educational thinking.
The center holds an annual Peace Justice Conference and features sculpture parks with different artistic themes, including areas dedicated to Cubism and Feng Shui design.
Visitors can take part in year-long volunteer programs involving organic farming, special education assistance, and facility maintenance. On-site accommodation allows people to fully immerse themselves in these hands-on learning projects.
The center built Tvindkraft, a wind power installation that emerged in the mid-1970s through collaborative efforts of students and teachers. When completed, this installation ranked among the world's most powerful wind turbines of its kind.
