Okseøer, Island group in Flensburg Fjord, Denmark.
Okseøer consists of two small islands in the Flensburg Fjord near the coastal village of Sønderhav. Store Okseø and Lille Okseø together cover approximately 11 hectares and sit in this shallow, sheltered waterway in southern Denmark.
The islands appear in written records dating to 1231, when King Waldemar II documented them as Oxenör minor et major in his cadastral survey. This early mention establishes their long presence in regional records and medieval Danish geography.
The Danish Nature Agency maintains Store Okseø while Lille Okseø houses a school camp operated by a Copenhagen teachers' union since 1963.
Store Okseø is accessible only by private boat or kayak from the mainland. Bring your own drinking water and remove all waste when you leave to keep the island clean.
In the early 18th century, Store Okseø served as a shipbuilding center where the Issack family ran boat construction operations across several generations. This maritime craftsmanship heritage shaped the island's history long before its current use.
