Ballerup Super Arena, Multi-purpose arena and velodrome in Ballerup, Denmark
Ballerup Super Arena is a large multi-purpose venue in Ballerup featuring a wooden cycling track and extensive event spaces. The facility can accommodate approximately 6,500 seated spectators and up to 9,200 people when standing room is added.
The arena opened in 2001 and quickly became a host for international competitions. It has hosted the World Cycling Championships in 2002, 2010, and 2024, as well as the World Taekwondo Championship in 2009.
The arena serves as a gathering place for the Ballerup community, hosting sports events, markets, and festivals that bring people together. Visitors experience a dynamic community hub where local residents and athletes connect over shared interests and activities.
The arena is conveniently located in central Ballerup and easy to reach for spectators and participants. Visitors should check ahead to see what type of event is happening, as the space is configured differently depending on the activity.
The cycling track here is the only one of its kind in the Nordic countries and attracts cyclists from around the world. It was substantially reinforced after a roof collapse in 2003 and now features an innovative cable system for added safety.
