Kanhavekanalen, Protected ancient canal in Samsø Municipality, Denmark.

The Kanhave Canal stretches 500 meters in length and 11 meters in width, connecting Stavns Fjord to Mårup Vig across Samsø island.

Construction of the canal took place in 726, during the Viking Age, with wooden planks secured by stakes forming the reinforced walls.

The canal represents early Danish engineering capabilities, joining other significant structures like Trelleborg and Dannevirke from the late Iron Age period.

Visitors can walk along public paths that follow the entire length of the canal, with parking areas available at designated points.

Dendrochronological analysis of the oak planks used in construction precisely dated the canal to 726, making it one of Denmark's oldest dated structures.
