Asserbo Charterhouse, Castle ruins in Gribskov Municipality, Denmark.
The stone fortress features high embankments, a moat, and remaining foundations that outline the original structure's medieval architecture.
Bishop Absalon established the Carthusian monastery in the late 12th century, which later became property of Sorø Abbey until the medieval period ended.
The site represents early Danish monastic architecture, combining religious and defensive elements in its construction with large monk bricks.
Visitors can access the ruins through a northern entrance, following the original layout where a drawbridge once controlled access to the fortress.
Sand drifts completely covered the structure in the early 18th century, leading to extensive plantation efforts of Tisvilde Hegn in the 1730s.
