Brøndums Hotel, Historic hotel in Skagen, Denmark.
Brøndums Hotel is a listed historic building in the center of Skagen, in northern Denmark, with white-painted walls and a red-tiled roof typical of the local style. It has guest rooms on several floors, a dining room with original decor, and a wine cellar beneath the main building.
The building started as a farmhouse and gradually became a guest house before Christen Degn Brøndum turned it into a proper hotel in 1891. Around that time, Skagen was drawing artists from across Scandinavia, and the hotel became a natural base for many of them.
The dining room was a meeting place for the Skagen Painters in the late 19th century, and some of the works they left behind in payment still hang on the walls today. Walking through the room feels like stepping into a small art collection tied directly to the history of the place.
The hotel sits in the center of Skagen and is within walking distance of the main beaches and the local art museum. Staying here gives direct access to the old town on foot, which is the most natural way to explore this part of northern Denmark.
The dining room was decorated in 1906 by Thorvald Bindesbøll, a Danish artist known for designing the Carlsberg logo, and the interior has not changed since. This makes the room one of the few surviving interiors of his work still in everyday use.
