Guldborgsund Zoo

The 5-hectare complex contains numerous animal enclosures, including spaces for Siberian tigers, lemurs from Madagascar, and New Zealand penguins, alongside botanical gardens.

Carl Heinz Krag, a 20-year-old pet shop owner, established the zoo in 1933 with support from friends and family, attracting over 100,000 visitors in its first year.

Known locally as Folkeparken or The People's Park, the facility evolved from a private zoo into a public recreational space that serves the community of Guldborgsund Municipality.

Visitors can access the zoo from May through October between 9:00 and 17:00, while winter hours run from 10:00 to 16:00, with designated areas for children to interact with animals.

The facility features two rocky caves housing Asian dwarf otters at the entrance and contains a South American tropical house with snap turtles and dwarf caimans.
