Jyllands Park Zoo, Animal park in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality, Denmark
Jyllands Park Zoo is an animal park in the Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality of western Denmark, home to a wide range of species including lions, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, seals, baboons, and snakes. The grounds are spread across several zones, each with its own viewing areas and daily animal presentations.
The zoo was founded around 50 years ago as a modest animal collection in the rural west of Jutland. Over the following decades it expanded steadily, growing into one of the main wildlife destinations in western Denmark.
The on-site cafeteria serves traditional Danish food, and many visitors combine a meal with watching the animal presentations nearby. The daily feeding sessions and keeper talks draw families who return year after year.
Comfortable walking shoes are a good idea since the grounds are large and most areas are reached on foot. Strollers and hand carts are available to rent on site, and there are covered picnic areas with public grills for visitors who bring their own food.
The park has what is said to be the largest bouncing pillow in Denmark, a draw for younger visitors who can spend a long time there. A small train also loops around the grounds, letting visitors see the animals from a different angle without covering the full route on foot.
